It is the breadth of Chris Newman's artistic forms of expression which captivates us in times of ever-increasing specialisation. All pictures are subject to the principles of musical composition and all all compositions are subject to creative qualities. In Chris Newman's works this reciprocal relationship leads to a density of design which is determined by gestural sponaneity and a colour spectrum typical of his work. Some of the seven works which can be found in the collection of the Arp Museum are also based on Polaroid photos which determine the centre of the pictures and in the sense of small, focused "Interiors" incorporate real pictorial worlds of the artist.

Chris Newman was born in 1958 in London, he lives and works in Berlin.
