Franz Schubert was never on the Rhine. He fished for his trout in Upper Austria. Nevertheless, his "Trout Quintet" is an ideal model for Bernd Glemser and young string players of the Villa Musica. No other German pianist has recorded as many Romantic works as Glemser. He knows Mendelssohn particularly well, the "magical freshness of touch" that Clara Schumann praised so highly. Glemser allows the Rhine Romanticism to blossom again where it originated: in Rolandseck.
