11:00 – 17:30 | Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck
Workshop – 2-day - Registration necessary
Calligraphed typefaces are not only texts written with pen and ink. Calligraphy is language made figurative and puts a text content into the picture in a personal interpretative way. In this workshop, the focus is not only on writing with ink, pen and other writing tools. Participants will also approach Hans Arp's texts and sound poems. In this two-day course, we will first look at the rhythm and proportion of writing in exemplary, classical alphabets in combination with elements of our own handwriting. By combining these preliminary exercises, the participants will develop their first text designs and typefaces. Concepts such as tension, rhythm and contrast (e.g. large-small, strong-small, colourful-uncolourful, empty-full) will accompany us throughout the course. We will be inspired by the (DADA) poems and texts of Hans Arp. The workshop-style course is suitable for beginners and advanced students alike, as participants will work individually according to their skills and progress. Basic equipment (graph paper, black ink, 3 mm nib, penholder) can be purchased on site if desired.
