A Russian voice for Wagner - the annual guest performance of RheinVokal in Rolandseck. For 15 years, Russian mezzo-soprano Elena Zhidkova has sung Wagner's great roles on stages around the world: Venus in Bayreuth, Fricka in Geneva, Brangäne in Tokyo and Kundry at the Vienna State Opera. Pianist Nikolaus Rexroth is her accompanist when she dives deep into the "Fin de Siècle" at the Arp Museum: Forgetting the world and longing for death in the tones of a Wagner, Mahler and Mussorgsky.
