SUMMARY:Painting with pigments - Longing for Utopia with Charlotte von Ohne
 sorge
DESCRIPTION:Attention: Please ask Ms. von Ohnesorge whether participation i
n English is possible.\n\nIn this workshop\, we will work directly with pu
re pigments. Since ancient times\, artists have been painting with red cha
lk\, green earth\, or ochre.\n\nAt the beginning of the workshop\, we will
visit the exhibition Longing for Utopia and focus our attention on the co
lour scheme. In paintings depicting lake landscapes or rivers\, the colour
s also express a longing for fairy-tale idylls or the hope of retreating i
nto nature. Here we will make sketches that will serve as a basis and insp
iration for the practical part of the workshop.\nThe fascinating thing abo
ut painting with pigments is how the pure colours – applied directly to
the paper – can be rubbed into smooth or grainy strokes\, spread like a
powdery touch or condensed into strong\, opaque areas. Pure pigments are u
sed\, either in small pieces or finely ground. Water\, a little binder and
solid or loose pastel chalks are added. This allows many different techni
ques to be used. We let the precious pigments work their magic and learn h
ow random effects are created – and how we can incorporate and use this
process in our work. The workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced s
 tudents.\n\nCosts: 50 € per person\, incl. material\, plus museum entran
ce fee\n\nRegistration necessary: Charlotte von Ohnesorge oder +49 178 913
