 Like the abstract forms of Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Chinese characters are often developed from the depiction of real objects and symbols. In this course, the Chinese artist Hong Tang-Knoben, who teaches Chinese writing and calligraphy at the University of Bonn, will introduce you to the basics of Chinese calligraphy. You will get to know pictorial characters and familiarise yourself with basic techniques. At the end of the course, you will be able to write your first basic characters and take home your own works of calligraphy, which you can practise yourself at any time. No previous knowledge is required.
