Clay Workshop — Plastic head in clay with Katrin Kleinau

11:00 – 17:00  |  Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck
Workshop – 2-day - Registration necessary

31 Jan 2026

In this course, participants will explore figurative work with clay: clay is the ideal material for approaching the plastic structure of a three-dimensional portrait, as it is easy to add and remove material. First, the basic structure of a head is built up, including the base of the neck and, if you want to create a bust, the shoulders. The greatest focus is on shaping the face with all its highs and lows: Ms Kleinau will be happy to help you with any questions you may have about anatomical principles. However, artistic freedom takes precedence – anyone who wants to create a caricature or comic-like piece is welcome to do so. This allows participants to express themselves naturally and freely. A photo can serve as a template for inspiration, or you can look in the mirror and use your self-portrait as inspiration. There is the option of firing the artwork later. The course is suitable for beginners and advanced learners.

Costs: 250 € per person for two days, plus materials, museum admission and, if applicable, firing costs (firing possible in Frechen, own transport required)
