Painting with the sun – cyanotype printing with Irmgard Hofmann and Ulla Hieronymi-Pinnock

11:00 – 15:00  |  Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck
Workshop – Registration necessary

07 Jun 2026

Discover the magic of cyanotype – an ancient noble printing process developed by John Herschel in the early days of photography around 1840. Using nothing more than iron salts, sunlight and water, you can create characteristic, deep blue images. In this workshop, you will learn how to use the power of the sun to create unique motifs: plants, shadows or your own templates are transferred directly onto the light-sensitive paper. It is an environmentally friendly process that combines scientific curiosity and artistic expression. The course instructors invite you to experiment together on the Arp Terrace and let the sun become your paintbrush. Whether you are a beginner or an art lover, you will go home with your own cyanotype artwork and experience the fascination of this historical technique for yourself.

Costs: 50 € per person plus 7 € material and museum entrance fee
