Avi Avital, the world-renowned mandolin virtuoso from Israel, shines in the hit series “Vivaldi in Advent” alongside young string players from Villa Musica. In Vivaldi’s concertos for mandolin and lute, he brings the light of the lagoon city to life in the Rolandseck ballroom. Through wild Follia variations and sweeping string concertos, he evokes the eccentric genius of the “red-haired priest.” In Bach’s Double Concerto in D minor, Avi Avital demonstrates that he can easily hold his own against a solo violin.
