Heavy, massive, crouching ... with tense feet or at least fragile, soft, sensual, seeming?
What is it, the EXPRESSION of the body? His state of mind?
Inspired by the sculptural work of Auguste Rodin, we will trace this expression. During a tour of the museum, we take a close look at his works and, with the help of a model, will then recreate the body expressions, gestures and signs in two days and then model them in clay.
Touch, squeeze, press, tear - with our hands we grasp and shape that physicality, that theatricality and sensuality that the sculptor’s work so impressively demonstrates. Clay offers itself here as a material for direct work towards expressive fragments of the body and the figure. In doing so, we pay attention to chance, try to be attentive to the unexpected, the unfinished moments, which especially make up the impressive, fragmentary work of Rodin. Particular attention should be paid to his “unfinished”, torn off torsos and body pieces, which he groups sometimes solo and sometimes as assemblages. It is precisely in those works and monuments in which material and body fragments develop into heightened expression and not into mere naturalism that there is something incomparable in Rodin’s work.

Enjoyment and enjoyment of clay as a material are the only prerequisites for this workshop.
