Booked out | Print with linocut and woodcut with Franka Peikert

11:30 – 17:00  |  Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck
Workshop – Registration necessary

17 Feb 2024

Using the classic materials of linoleum and wood, they learn how to make printing blocks for letterpress printing. However, the materials are easier to work with today; the linoleum is softer and the Ceiba wood I use is much easier to cut than other woods, but still has the desired wood grain. We print with linoleum inks and offset oil colours. You learn the cutting technique, the correct colouring of the plates, the impression with the press and the abrasion by hand. Sometimes we also run over our plates. How do I make a multi-colour print? What is a lost cut? Is it just a craft or an art and is it fun? It's great fun and it can definitely result in art .... but the craft helps. We take inspiration from the exhibitions in the museum. Please bring your own crockery, food and drinks for a short break. You can make coffee and tea on site for beginners and advanced students.
