50 years of the Hagen Quartet: an event at the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck. When the Hagen siblings founded their quartet in the mid-seventies, they were soon discovered and promoted by greats such as Gidon Kremer and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Their playing is still characterised today by clever tonal speech and the finest phrasing. They prove this in two famous quartets from Haydn's Opus 33 - Haydn's ‘wit’ in classical perfection, plus Schumann's agitated inwardness in A minor.

Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in C major, op. 33 no. 3 (Bird Quartet)

String Quartet in G major, op. 33 no. 5
Robert Schumann: String Quartet in A minor, op. 41 No. 1
