We prescribe you a visit to our museum and our art ambulance!
When the weather is good, the art historian Olaf Mextorf is waiting for you in the open air and invites you to an open dialogue. Is art systemically relevant? What excited you about our museum? What irritated you? What role does art play in your everyday life? What questions do you go home with?
In a conversation with an uncertain outcome, you have the chance to bring in your own thoughts, feelings and questions. In this way, unexpected approaches, ideas and associations develop that open up a new perspective on art and the museum.

We take the sanitary room designed by the artist Maria Nordman for the museum as the starting point for our new series. Since the 1960s, the artist has brought the conversation about art from museums to public spaces. For Maria Nordman, art can happen at any time and at any place. For the work “Sanitätsraum / Samaritain” the artist uses three rooms below the southern side stairs of the train station. In addition, the sequoia in the outdoor area of ​​the museum is part of the work of art. The viewers are called upon to feel the individual rooms, but also to establish references to the outside space, to the Rhine and to the opposite bank. The people who come to the museum and live in its surroundings are therefore also part of the work.

Just as Nordman’s work comes to life through the viewer, our museum needs you as a visitor. With our art outpatient clinic, we would like to get in contact with you and revitalize our forecourt (in compliance with the current Covid guidelines).
