"Holy song of thanksgiving of a recovered man to the Godhead."
That's what Beethoven called the slow movement of his A minor quartet, Opus 132. The Adelphi Quartet places the spiritualized late Beethoven in a European setting of early Haydn, English pastoral idylls by Bridge and an Italian funeral music by Puccini. The Adelphi Quartet is also composed of four nations, with Belgian Maxime Michaluk and Spaniard Esther Agusti on the two violins, Englishman Adam Newman on viola, and German cellist Nepomuk Braun. Together they won significant prizes at the Heidelberg String Quartet Festival, the Premio Paolo Borciani in Italy, and the String Quartet Competition at Wigmore Hall in London.
