13. Sep 2020 – 06. Jun 2021
Until February 14, 2021, the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck is closed in accordance to the Corona Control Ordinance of the State Rhineland-Palatinate.
The presentation of the collection once again allows us to experience the many-faceted works of our museum’s two patrons, Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, who today are regarded as forerunners of the two essential tendencies of modernism. It is a wonderful piece of luck that we can unite the two pioneers of both the geometric and the organic abstraction under one roof, which is probably without equal in the world, and this gives us the opportunity to invite visitors on an exciting journey of exploration. This is because aside from the joint works numerous other pieces also reflect an astonishingly close exploration of the same motifs or overriding principles, such as the empty space (negative space).
Selected dialogues reveal that the often contrary visual language does not represent any kind of limitation for the artist couple, but rather enriches their respective individual creative process.
