Around 60 works, including pieces by Gustave Caillebotte, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot and Auguste Renoir, demonstrate how Impressionism found new forms of artistic expression in a world in the throes of change. Technological progress and social emancipation shaped art just as much as the longing for retreat and the search for a new sense of self. The exhibition explores the interplay between art and society on the cusp of the modern era.
