Mit Freude am Leben und an der Kunst
Mit Leichtigkeit und Witz tanzt Hans Arp uns hier zu seinem heutigen 137. Geburtstag ein Ständchen an der Sylter Strandpromenade, aufgenommen wahrscheinlich 1923. Mit seinem Körper konnte er, zumindest fürs Bild, die Schwerkraft kurzzeitig überwinden. Diese Freiheit suchte er auch in seiner Kunst, die aus den fließenden Formen der Natur neue, eigene Wirklichkeiten schuf.
Heute feiern wir unseren dadaistischen Großvater, wie ihn Max Bill einmal liebevoll nannte. Und freuen uns mit ihm am Leben und an der Kunst.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HANS ARP!
With lightness and wit, Hans Arp dances for us here on the occasion of his 137th birthday. The photograph was taken on the Sylt beach promenade, probably in 1923. With his body, the artist was able to overcome gravity for a moment, at least for the picture. He also sought this freedom in his art, which created new realities of its own from the flowing forms of nature.
Today we celebrate our Dadaist grandfather, as Max Bill once lovingly called him. And rejoice with him in life and in art.
