Wer oder was ist The Phoebus Foundation, Antwerp?
Ausgehend von dieser Idee werden innerhalb der Foundation Objekte von den großen Alten Meistern bis zu lateinamerikanischer Kunst, von archäologischen Textilien über historische Mode bis zur Kunst der Gruppe CoBrA gesammelt.
The Phoebus Foundation, Antwerp ist eine Kunststiftung mit philanthropischen Zielsetzungen. Die Stiftung erwirbt Kunstwerke und stellt einen professionellen Rahmen für deren Erhaltung und Verwaltung bereit, gewährleistet ihre Bewahrung und Restaurierung und strebt ein hohes Niveau wissenschaftlicher Forschung an. Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit werden so umfassend wie möglich durch Ausstellungen und Leihgaben, kulturelle Veranstaltungen, Symposien und Publikationen vermittelt.

Based on this idea, the Foundation collects objects ranging from the great Old Masters to Latin American art, from archaeological textiles and historical fashion to the art of the CoBrA group.
The Phoebus Foundation, Antwerp is an art foundation with philanthropic objectives. The foundation acquires works of art and provides a professional framework for their conservation and management, ensures their preservation and restoration, and strives for a high level of scientific research. The results of this work are communicated as widely as possible through exhibitions and loans, cultural events, symposia and publications.

Gott Phoebus Apollo – Beschützer der Musen
Aus der Sammlung der The Phoebus Foundation, Antwerp:
Gustave Moreau zeigt in seinem Gemälde Phoebus Apollo in seinem Sonnenwagen. Der Sammler Fernand Huts wählte ihn als Namensgeber für seine Sammlung und Stiftung.
In der griechisch-römischen Mythologie war der Gott Phoebus Apollo Beschützer der Musen. In der Kunst und Kunstgeschichte steht er für Inspiration und Erleuchtung. Er verkörpert ein mythisches goldenes Zeitalter – eine paradiesische Ära, in der Gewalt, Gier, Eifersucht und Ungerechtigkeit noch nicht existierten. In diesem Sinne sammelt und bewahrt die The Phoebus Foundation Kunst, stellt ihre professionelle Betreuung und Verwaltung sicher und ist zutiefst der Konservierung und Erforschung verpflichtet. Durch Ausstellungen, Publikationen, Podcasts, kulturelle Veranstaltungen und auf einer sehr informativen Website teilt die Foundation die Kunst, um zu zeigen, dass die Werke nicht von längst vergangenen Zeiten handeln, sondern auch vom Hier und Jetzt, von Ihnen und uns.
Aus der Sammlung Rau für UNICEF:
Der zweite Apoll im Sonnenwagen stammt von Odilon Redon und ist Teil der Sammlung Rau für UNICEF. Auch Gustav Rau war von dem antiken Gott inspiriert und verfolgte mit seiner Sammlung einen philanthropischen Ansatz. Als Kunstliebhaber und engagierter Kinderarzt vermachte er seine bedeutende Sammlung der Kinderhilfsorganisation UNICEF.

From The Phoebus Foundation, Antwerp:
Gustave Moreau depicts Phoebus Apollo in his sun chariot in his painting. Collector Fernand Huts chose him as the namesake for his collection and foundation.
In Greco-Roman mythology, the god Phoebus Apollo was the protector of the Muses. In art and art history, he represents inspiration and enlightenment. He embodies a mythical golden age – a paradisiacal era in which violence, greed, jealousy and injustice did not yet exist. In this spirit, The Phoebus Foundation collects and preserves art, ensures its professional care and management, and is deeply committed to conservation and research. Through exhibitions, publications, podcasts, cultural events and a highly informative website, the Foundation shares art to show that the works are not about times long past, but also about the here and now, about you and us.
From the Collection Rau for UNICEF:
The second Apollo in the Sun Chariot is by Odilon Redon and is part of the Collection Rau for UNICEF. Gustav Rau was also inspired by the ancient god and pursued a philanthropic approach with his collection. As an art lover and committed paediatrician, he bequeathed his significant collection to the children's aid organisation UNICEF.
